Welcome to the Tri-Cities. Now that you’re almost settled, you’d probably like to know how to get around this three-county, 300,000-person region.

Believe it or not, it’s not as hard as it looks at first glance. The Tri-Cities area is arranged roughly in the shape of an equilateral triangle, with the cities about 20 miles from each other.

  Transit Systems
Though travel by personal car is the transportation of choice for most residents of the Tri-Cities area. Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol each offer transit systems with routes throughout the cities.
  Driver's License Info
New residents to Tennesseee who have a valid out-of-state driver's license have 30 days after establishing residency to obtain a Tennessee driver's license, according to the Tennessee Department of Safety.
